A disruptive app challenging the property market, hand-coded from the start and rescued from a WordPress implementation.

The previous developer delivered not much more than a prototype, built on WordPress with a half-modified theme and some off-the-shelf plugins, and charged the client a staggering amount of money for it. That was even though the client had explained his vision clearly: a social platform, somewhere between LinkedIn and a property portal, where property professionals could network and estate agents could list their properties for free. The intention was a million properties listed at any one time, with millions of users visiting every day. WordPress is good, but it simply is not the platform for an application like that.
When we met at a networking event and started talking, the client could clearly see my unease about what he was describing. It came at a time when the software company was unwilling to correct the issues, or to put right the areas that simply were not working.
Step 1: we listened to the client, and talked at length about his vision and where he wanted to be tomorrow, next month, next year and in five years' time.
Step 2: we created a bespoke application for the core of the social and property listing platform.
Step 3: we built engines to make it easy for estate agents to bulk list their properties freely on the site.
Step 4: we integrated AI in a unique way to give a user experience never seen on any site, allowing detailed questions and answers about individual properties and about the property industry.

After initially working with other companies offering the "same" services, I didn't realise just how much of a gap there was between typical businesses and what Matt's team delivers.
